Seven certificates. One compliance story.

Our grounding textiles stand on seven certificates and one independent test report. Two certificates prove what the cloth is, one proves what is in it, three prove the electrical part, and one proves the factory runs the same way on every batch. The test report measures what fifty washes actually do to the conductivity. Each is listed with its scope stated as narrowly as the document states it.

The library

What each document actually proves.

Seven certificates, four jobs. Two prove the cloth, one proves what is in it, three prove the electrical assembly — the part everyone forgets to ask about — and one proves the factory behind all of it. The eighth document is the wash test below.

Textile safety · third party

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

Harmful-substance testing on the woven cotton base cloth. Product Class I is the baby-article class — the strictest of the four.

Issued by TESTEX AG, Zurich
Covers woven cotton base fabric

SH015 275915 · to 31 Dec 2026
Organic · third party

GOTS

Global Organic Textile Standard. Certifies the cotton as organic and traces the processing chain from fibre through to finished cloth.

Issued by a GOTS-approved certifier
Covers the organic cotton component

Certificate in the pack
Chemical · declaration

REACH

The EU chemicals regulation. Our statement screens the materials we supply against the SVHC candidate list and the restricted-substance annexes.

Issued by us, backed by laboratory data
Covers materials supplied

Statement in the pack
EU market access · self-declared

CE

A manufacturer's declaration of conformity, not a laboratory certificate. It is only as strong as the test reports behind it — which is why we send the RoHS and EMC reports with it.

Signed by Earthingtek
Covers the product as declared

Declaration + reports
Hazardous substances · test report

RoHS

Restricted hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment — relevant to the cord, connector and adapter rather than to the cloth itself.

Issued by an accredited laboratory
Covers the electrical assembly

Report in the pack
Electromagnetic · test report

EMC

Electromagnetic compatibility of the electrical parts: neither emitting nor being disturbed beyond the limits that apply to this product class.

Issued by an accredited laboratory
Covers the electrical assembly

Report in the pack
Quality system · third party

ISO 9001:2015 — quality management system

Not a product certificate. It certifies that the factory runs on documented procedures, defined inspection points and traceable batch records — which is what keeps the other six documents true between audits, rather than true only on the day they were issued.

Issued by an accredited certification body
Covers production, inspection and traceability

Certificate in the pack

The distinction that matters: OEKO-TEX and GOTS are third-party certificates with a number you can check. CE is a self-declaration, and REACH is a statement about materials. Both are only worth what the reports underneath them are worth — so we send those too.

The number buyers ask for and suppliers rarely publish: what washing actually does to the conductivity. One 500 × 500 mm specimen of our grounding bedding fabric, measured by Bureau Veritas, September 2026.

Why we publish a number that goes up

Resistance rises with washing: roughly double by 25 cycles, a little over four times the original by 50. That is the honest shape of a woven conductive cloth. A coated fabric loses its layer and stops conducting altogether; this one gives up a little efficiency where yarns cross, and keeps the silver inside the weave.

The rise also does not change what you are buying. The cord carries a 100 kΩ safety resistor, so at 23.5 Ω the cloth is still more than four thousand times more conductive than the resistor in series with it — the resistor sets the resistance of the path to earth, not the fabric.

What this report is, and is not
  • It is a measurement, not a pass/fail certificate. The report carries no permissible limit and no verdict beyond “see results”, so we publish the raw figures rather than a claim of passing.
  • It covers bare fabric only — one 500 × 500 mm specimen, not a sewn sheet, and not the cord, resistor or plug.
  • It was tested to one wash condition — 40 °C, neutral detergent, line dry. Harsher chemistry still shortens the life of silver; the care label is on the resources page.

Coverage

What it covers, what it does not.

Most certificates in this category are quoted loosely. Here is the boundary drawn exactly where the document draws it.

Covered

Tested and certified

  • Woven cotton, viscose and linen/viscose base fabrics
  • White and reactive-dyed qualities
  • Harmful-substance limits at Product Class I
Conditions

Where the certificate stays valid

  • Colour must stay inside the white / reactive-dyed range on the certificate
  • Fabric must be produced from components pre-certified to the same standard
  • Certificate renews annually — this one runs to 31 December 2026
Not covered

Outside the scope

  • Silver conductive yarn as a separate component
  • Cut-and-sew finishing — seams, snap tabs, hems
  • Cords, resistors and plug adapters

We publish the boundary because a scope mismatch is the fastest way for a buyer's compliance team to lose trust — in the document, or in the supplier holding it.

Product class

Class I is the class written for babies.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 sorts tested articles into four product classes by how sensitive the skin contact is. This certificate is issued at the first one.

Class I

Baby articles

Articles for babies and toddlers — the strictest limit values. Ours.

Class II

Direct skin contact

Textiles worn or slept on against the skin for long periods

Class III

No direct contact

Textiles used away from the skin

Class IV

Furnishing

Curtains, upholstery and interior textiles

A grounding sheet is slept on directly, for eight hours a night, often by people whose skin is already reactive. Testing the base cloth at the baby-article class rather than the class the category would settle for is the difference between a badge and an argument you can win.

Verification

Four checks, five minutes, no phone call.

Use the same four checks on us that you would use on any supplier. Expired certificates and borrowed certificate numbers are common enough in this category that the check is worth doing every time.

01

Read the number

It should be printed on the document, not only on a website. Ours is SH015 275915, with test report SH015 275915.1.

02

Check the issuer

OEKO-TEX certificates come from named institutes. Ours is TESTEX AG, Swiss Textile Testing Institute, Zurich — address on the certificate.

03

Check the date

Valid to 31 December 2026. An expired certificate is the most common defect in a supplier pack, and the easiest to miss.

04

Check the scope

Does the fabric listed match the fabric you are buying? Compare it against the coverage boundary above before you accept the claim.

Compliance background on REACH, SVHC, POP and GB 18401 is published by OEKO-TEX itself at oeko-tex.com/en/faq. If you would rather we send the documents than describe them, ask — the PDF, the test report and the declaration go out the same working day.

Questions we get asked about it

The four that matter.

Does this certificate cover the finished sheet?

No, and no OEKO-TEX fabric certificate does. It covers woven fabrics — the cotton base cloth we weave. The silver yarn, seams, snap tabs, cords and resistors are outside it. Say that out loud and the rest of the pack becomes believable.

What does Product Class I mean?

It is the strictest of the four classes: the one written for articles used by babies and toddlers. Classes II to IV loosen as skin contact becomes more distant. This certificate sits at Class I.

How do I verify it myself?

Four things: the number on the document, the issuing institute, the valid-until date, and whether the scope names the fabric you are buying. Ask for the PDF, the test report and the declaration, then hand all three to your compliance team.

Does the conductivity survive washing?

Measured, not asserted: 5.5 Ω new, 11.5 Ω at 25 washes, 23.5 Ω at 50, on a 500 × 500 mm specimen to ISO 6330. Resistance roughly quadruples, and the cloth is still thousands of times more conductive than the 100 kΩ cord. The test report is above.

Next step

Send the certificate to your compliance team. Then send us the spec.

Certificate SH015 275915, test report, declaration of conformity — and an indicative price on the construction you have in mind, usually within two working days.
